Pro-Daesh (formerly known as ISIS) graffiti was found early Saturday Morning by an Underground staff member in the men’s washroom by Dentistry on Campus on the first floor of the Student’s Centre. Allegedly, the vandalism has been present in the bathroom since shortly after the Charlie Hebdo attacks in January 2015. The words “Je suis ISIS” translate to “I am ISIS”, derived from the “#JeSuisCharlie” and “#JeSuisParis” solidarity movements following the attacks in the French capital. Earlier this month a hate crime targeted the female section of the multi-faith prayer room. The perpetrator painted sections of the room yellow and included derogatory messages in his attack. More information on the multi-faith prayer room vandalism will be published in our December issue, on stands Dec. 3, 2015.
